The Beatles released their second album, "With The Beatles" in the UK. The collection featured "All My Loving", "Please Mr. Postman" and "Roll Over Beethoven" and would succeed their first LP in the #1 spot, giving the Fab Four a string of fifty-one consecutive weeks at the top of the UK album chart.

Phil Spector releases a Christmas album called "A Christmas Gift for You", which was recorded over the Spring and Summer and contained songs by The Ronettes, The Crystals, Darlene Love and Bob B. Soxx And The Blue Jeans.

24-year-old Bob Dylan married 26-year-old former Playboy Bunny, Sara Lowndes, under an oak tree on a judge's lawn on Mineola, Long Island. She was to be the inspiration for the songs "Sara" and "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands". Sara would file for divorce in March, 1977.

The Beatles release a double album simply called "The Beatles", but known to fans as "The White Album". Among the twenty-nine songs on the LP is Ringo Starr's first song writing contribution, "Don't Pass Me By", which as a single, made it to number one in Scandinavia. The LP has since been certified 24X Platinum by the RIAA.

The Hollies complete their rendition of "The Air That I Breathe" at Abbey Road Studios in London. Initially recorded by Albert Hammond for his 1972 album "It Never Rains in Southern California", the record would rise to #2 in the UK and #6 in the US, marking the band's final Top 10 hit in America.

Less than three months after achieving their first number one record, "Get Down Tonight", KC And The Sunshine Band return to the top of the Hot 100 with "That's The Way (I Like It)". It made #4 in the UK.

Barry Manilow's rendition of "I Write the Songs" enters the Billboard Top 40, on its way to number one. Although Manilow wrote many of his hits, this one was actually composed by Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys. The record would go on to win a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for Record of the Year (which it lost to "This Masquerade" by George Benson) in 1977.

Jerry Lee Lewis turned his Rolls Royce upside down in a ditch just outside Collierville, Tennessee, totaling the vehicle. Neither he or his wife Jaren were badly hurt, but The Killer would end up facing a drunk driving charge, of which he was later proven innocent by a breathalyzer.

Michael Hutchence, the 37-year-old lead singer of INXS, was found dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Double Bay, Sydney. The New South Wales coroner determined that Hutchence's death was the result of suicide, although some who were close to him believe he may have died from autoerotic asphyxiation.
